Roofing

Protect your home from the top down.

Brick and stucco home with a large gray shingle roof, covered entrance, and attached garage.

A roof built for South Louisiana weather.

BPM replaces and repairs roofs in Metairie and Greater New Orleans. As a GAF Certified Residential Roofing Contractor, we can help you plan a new roof, including one built to the FORTIFIED Roof standard, or repair damage after a storm. Start with a conversation about your roof's age, condition, and any leaks or damage you have noticed.

The details that matter

Plan the work around your needs.

Replace or repair

Some roofs need a targeted repair. Others have reached the point where replacement is the better investment. Age, the condition of the decking, past leaks, and storm exposure all factor in. We look at the roof and the areas below it, then talk through the options with you. Roof types we install: shingle, metal, and flat or low slope roofs.

FORTIFIED roofs and the Louisiana Fortify Homes Program

The FORTIFIED Roof standard, set by the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS), uses details like a sealed roof deck, ring-shank nails, and stronger roof edges to help a roof stay in place during high winds. Once a FORTIFIED roof is completed and evaluated, the homeowner receives a certificate that can be shared with their insurer for a possible premium discount.

The Louisiana Fortify Homes Program grants up to $10,000 toward upgrading a roof to the FORTIFIED standard. To apply, homeowners generally need:

  • A primary residence with a homestead exemption
  • An active insurance policy with wind coverage, plus flood insurance if the home is in a FEMA Special Flood Hazard Area
  • A home in an eligible parish, including Jefferson, Orleans, St. Bernard, St. Charles, and St. Tammany

New construction, condominiums, and mobile homes are not eligible, and partial roof repairs are not funded. Grants depend on available funding, and recipients are chosen by lottery. Homeowners pay the evaluation fees and any costs above the grant. Being selected does not authorize construction. Wait for approval before starting any work, because projects started before approval do not qualify. Grant-funded work must be done by a contractor approved for the program. Homeowners can learn about the state program at fortifyhomes.la.gov.

Storm damage repairs

After wind or storm damage, we can inspect the roof once it is safe, document the damage with photos and notes, and work with your insurance adjuster on the scope of repairs. Clear documentation helps keep the repair work and any improvements you choose to add separate in the proposed scope. If the roof is leaking, we offer emergency tarping to protect your home until permanent repairs can be made.

Helpful answers

Questions about roofing.

How do I know if my roof needs replacing or just a repair?

It depends on the roof's age, the condition of the decking, and how widespread the damage is. We inspect the roof and explain the options so you can decide.

Can BPM help with my insurance claim?

Yes. We can document roof damage and work with your adjuster on the repair scope. Your coverage and claim decisions are between you and your insurer.

Can I get the Fortify Homes grant for a roof I already replaced?

No. The program requires approval before work begins, and partial repairs are not eligible. Apply first. Being selected does not authorize construction, and grant-funded work must be done by a contractor approved for the program.

What should I do right after storm damage?

Stay off the roof and away from damaged areas. Take photos from a safe location, contact your insurer, and call BPM to discuss repairs.
